Stony Brook, NY – Amanda Bridal Portraits

James and I dragged our friend Amanda (who is a fantastic wedding photographer) and her wedding dress out to my old college campus and we snuck into it’s bamboo forest. Being sorely disappointed with what I remembered the spot to be, we ended up in a woodsy clearing and did some bridal portraits there with Amanda as my ever lovely subject. The natural sunlight streaming through the trees was gorgeous and I ended up ignoring my lights for a while. That, combined with Amanda’s awesome and bubbly personality led to this:

Winchester, VA – Andrea and Brian Wedding

I was down in Virgina and had the honor of second shooting a wedding for Li, who runs Estate Serenity Imagery. Quite a trip, and well worth it! The wedding (and not to mention the couple, Andrea and Brian!) were gorgeous and the folks down there were super awesome.

Before heading over to the ceremony, we picked up the flowers that everyone would be wearing/holding to photograph them in advance. I got to play with a LensBaby Composer for the first time (thanks Li!), and ended up buying one shortly after (oops). The images that come out of that lens are absolutely gorgeous!

While Li was off with the gals, I was handling groom portraits at their apartment (in NYC-language, it’s a huge house). The guys were awesome and fun to be around, and convinced me to stick around for the reception even though I had the choice of taking off for the rest of the night. =P

The wedding ceremony itself took place at a reception hall at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. Gorgeous area. Oh, and they had a friend of theirs officiating at the wedding. How awesome is that? The ceremony was originally planned to be outdoors, but it was drizzling that day, so it was taken indoors. By the end of the ceremony, the sun came out and Li took the formal portraits outdoors on the lawn.

Over at the Piccadilly’s Public House, known locally as Brew Pub, was Brian and Andrea’s wedding reception. I loved the atmosphere and how they had string lights everywhere.

Westbury Manor, NY – Emel and Christian Wedding

Emel and Christian’s wedding at Westbury Manor was a huge mix of cultures, which I loved. The ceremony was beautiful, and took place outside as the sun was setting.

While I secretly wanted to chase peacocks, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour before heading inside for dinner and dancing, where nothing but fun ensued.

New York City, NY – Mickey and Brett Wedding

Mickey and Brett were married right in our very own NYC last summer. Neither were from New York City, with Mickey hailing from Georgia and Brett from upstate New York. Both are of different cultural and religious backgrounds, so what better place to be wed than at the UN’s non-denominational chapel?

The reception took place nearby, at a restaurant called Destino. We walked over from the chapel, and yes, Mickey was barefoot.

Lastly, the champagne, the laughs as those toasting tell the bride and groom incriminating secrets about each of them, and those silly family friends that know when to have a good time. Congrats, Mickey and Brett!

New York City, NY – Nadia and Girish Mehendi

One of the events just before Nadia and Girish’s wedding was Nadia’s Mehendi, or her henna party, which took place in the gorgeous event space in their building. Nadia and her henna were absolutely stunning!

Both young and playful, the husband-to-be made sure to take advantage of Nadia’s now henna-covered (and defenseless) status. They are such an adorable couple!

It was definitely a beautiful and colorful event, and we are glad to have been a part of it.

Queens, NY – Patti and Jeff Wedding

Fast cars, fast motorcycles, billiards, a love of anything red, shiny, and jingly, all wrapped up into a 4’11″ package. That pretty much describes my friend Patti who asked me to shoot her wedding one day out of the blue. She and her husband Jeff are both fun loving and were completely open to suggestions, like Jeff, wearing Patti’s shawl thing.

Totally manly! Anyway! The wedding was a fairly traditional Chinese wedding, with tea ceremonies and games that started out at Patti’s parent’s house.

Once complete it was off to Jeff’s parents place to repeat the tea ceremony, as well as to a nearby park for some fun and casual wedding party formals.

Then it was off to the amazing Linden Place in Flushing for the reception and partying.

The after party (yes, after party), was held at Carom Billiards, which was conveniently next door.

P.S. They had the cutest heart shaped tape measures as wedding favors.

Perfect for making sure I keep my tummy in check. =)
